Ben Palmer joined Brooks Macdonald in 2011 as a graduate trainee and is now head of responsible investment at the business, leading its integration of ESG analysis.
He holds the CFA Institute certificate in ESG investing. He says the best performing strategies for the responsible investment service over the last year were its renewable energy investment trusts, in particular the John Laing Environmental Assets trust.
In the last year he has added the TwentyFour Sustainable Short Term Bond and EdenTree R&S Short Dated Bond funds to the service’s buy list.
Palmer believes the move to decarbonise the global economy will be a ‘key theme’ over the next five years and beyond.
