Craig Melling was a founder member of the investment division of Progeny alongside fellow Top 100 nominee Ian Hooper in 2016. Both men previously worked together at Redmayne Bentley, forming the core of a six-strong team who joined the new venture in Leeds.

He says a pivot to value via the JO Hambro UK Equity Income and Polar Capital UK Value Opportunities funds has been among the most significant buy-list changes of this year, as well as shortening duration via the Man GLG Sterling Corporate Bond fund, among others.

‘Part of our solution range remained exposed to quality growth at the start of the year, which saw relative underperformance compared to value growth assets,’ he admits. ‘However, we made the right decision to switch part of our developed market equity exposure from small to large cap.’
