David Hood leads Brewin Dolphin’s central Investment Solutions team, which specialises in model portfolio construction and risk analysis. The team manages the Brewin Dolphin managed portfolio service as well as the Voyager and MI Select Managers funds.

Before joining Brewin Dolphin as a quantitative analyst in 2009, Hood co-founded a data company, which was later acquired by a large Canadian software company.

He views the highlight of his career as launching MI Select Managers Alternatives fund earlier this year. His best performing fund pick has been the FTF Rare Global Infrastructure strategy, while his hidden gem is the Teviot UK Smaller Companies fund. The top cause for him to sell a mandate is style shift.

His best call this year has been going ‘meaningfully underweight bonds and overweight cash’.
