Edward Park joined Brooks Macdonald straight out of university in 2009 as a graduate investment manager. He rose through the ranks to become deputy chief investment officer in 2018 before being promoted to the top spot in 2020.
Park has earned a place on this list because of his ability to build investment processes at the firm. He says he enjoys making incremental improvements to how portfolios are built and executed. He is a fan of small iterative change over time rather than what he calls ‘big bang’ shifts.
He says the best idea of the year was a shift ‘towards balance between growth and value investment styles during 2021. While it's an industry-wide issue, the worst investment call was to continue to hold sizeable growth equity positions in taxable portfolios due to CGT concerns.’
