Personal AUM:
Group AUM:
£7.5bn
Specialism:

Chief executive of Atomos – formerly Sanlam Wealth – Jonathan Polin admitted in an interview with Citywire in September that he made several attempts to woo Haig Bathgate before finally securing his services earlier this year.

That will surprise no one who has followed Bathgate’s career, which over two decades has seen him recognised as one of the shrewdest minds in UK wealth management. After studying economics and statistics at Heriot-Watt University he joined Turcan Connell in 1997, qualifying as an investment manager in 2000 and becoming CIO in 2009.

He was instrumental in both the management buyout of the investment division from its parent law firm, and the later sale of the division to Seven Investment Management, where he stayed as head of portfolio management before stepping down in early 2021.
