Managing almost £1bn in client assets across several asset classes, Julian Howard is the lead investment director on the multi-asset range at GAM, where he has worked for 15 years. He previously worked at Henderson Global Investors, Insight Investment, Invesco Perpetual and JP Morgan.

He takes a ‘less is more’ approach to portfolio changes, and advises younger investors to figure out their time horizon, invest accordingly, and then refrain from rebalancing too regularly.

Howard believes identifying growth in a low growth world will be vital for investors over the next five years and beyond.

He would be a general practitioner if he could choose another profession, highlighting how the pandemic emphasised the importance of a knowledgeable and approachable GP.
