
Formerly of Investec by way of Williams de Broe, Laurence Boyle co-founded MAIA Asset Manager as chief investment officer in 2016. He additionally chairs its asset allocation and strategy committees.
He adds that he is proud that the company – which he co-founded with Investec colleague and investment director Rebecca Williams - has achieved a 50/50 gender split on both the board and overall team, in addition to half the board being under 40-years-old.
Boyle says his best investment decision of the last year was overweighting alternatives, specifically global infrastructure. ‘Our infrastructure holdings have provided diversification benefits along with good performance and healthy income generation,’ he says. ‘We have [also] continued to add to value biased funds to increase our overweight allocation to value over growth.’
