Despite leading both the Quilter Cheviot and Quilter Investors Multi-Asset team, being a CFA charterholder and sitting on the investment committees of King's College London and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Nick Wood is an avid runner and would have loved to have been a professional athlete if he weren’t involved in fund research and selection.

Wood has a speciality for Japan and global equities, so it should be no surprise to hear that his hidden gem is M&G Japan, rating its team and robust process highly as well as noting that its tilt towards value has been helpful to returns over the past 12 months.

Gaining insight, meeting amazing investors and thought leaders throughout his time in the industry are reasons he loves his job, but if he were to change the industry in any way, he thinks more opportunities for young people of all backgrounds is the answer, as ‘the traditional city background and connections still matter too much’.
