With lead responsibility for Fairstone’s fund selection and asset allocation, Oliver Stone has been building out Fairstone’s investment propositions for 10 years, having joined the firm as an analyst in 2012.
As well as subsequently acting as deputy manager of the firm’s Model Portfolio Service, he also joined the firm’s asset allocation and investment committees and was promoted to group head of research in 2015. He was then named head of portfolio management in 2017.
Serving the group’s adviser base through oversight of circa £1.5bn in MPS assets, the buy list has seen greater focus on real assets and alternative fixed income options over the last 12 months, with Cohen & Steers Diversified Real Assets named as the best performer. Separately, his best investment call this year has been remaining overweight value equities.
If Stone was not a portfolio manager, he would be a water slide tester.
