Patrick Thomas started his career in 2013 as an emerging market equity fund analyst at Canaccord. In 2017 he launched the wealth manager’s ESG model portfolio range and created its unitised fund this year.
As the head of ESG investing, he runs a six-person team and sits on the firm’s asset allocation committee, where he focuses on providing thematic ideas around environmental and social investment trends.
Thomas, renowned for his ‘permanent bad hair days,’ believes that his best decision made over the last 12 months was adding to iShares Global Clean Energy and the John Laing Environmental Assets fund in early February.
His one mistake was not allocating more to these positions. If he had not taken up a career in finance, he would be in commercial aviation.
Thomas is fascinated by the combination of technical and psychological obstacles that the aviation industry tackles to ensure its clients’ have a brilliant service.
