Paul Surguy has over 20 years of private client investment management experience, and is approaching three years with Kingswood. Previously, he spent five years with Kleinwort Hambros managing discretionary portfolios, following 10 years at Sanlam Wealth.

He considers the energy transition as the top investment theme of the next five years, with the JP Morgan Natural Resources fund the most recent addition to the buy list.

He cites the Fiera Capital Magna New Frontiers fund as his hidden gem. While he wishes portfolios had more value exposure earlier in the year, he has been light equity exposure, which he describes as his best investment call of the last 12 months.

If Surguy was not working in investment management, he says he would be a teacher. However, the highlight of his career has been ‘working with and meeting so many incredibly talented people’.
