Thomas Becket has been a regular feature of our Top 100 since his promotion to chief investment officer of Punter Southall in 2009 at the tender age of 31. He remains in post following the recent 2021 sale of the business to Canaccord Genuity.

Within the company’s portfolios he says the story of the past year has been of holding onto high-conviction positions and avoiding unnecessary risks. Emerging market debt has been ‘unhelpful’ but he believes his willingness to hold on may soon be rewarded.

His most recent fund addition, of Troy Trojan fund, has been appropriately cautious, and he says his single most effective investment of the last year has been the FT Clearbridge RARE Infrastructure fund.
